Captain Primeaux began his association with the Cleveland Police Department in April 1979 as a reserve officer. In March 1982 he accepted a position as a full time police officer with the city of Cleveland. He was promoted to patrol shift supervisor in 1985 where he served until being promoted to Detective in June 1988. On March 22, 2014 he will have completed 32 years of service to the department and to the community and will have served under 5 Chiefs of Police. After 15 years as a detective, responsible for the investigation of crimes from simple thefts to murder, he returned to patrol in 2003 but in 2009 returned to investigations. In 2011 he was promoted to Captain and supervises criminal investigations conducted by detectives, oversee the property room and supervises the departments CSI. Captain Primeaux has been a resident of Cleveland, Texas since September 1960 and is a 1968 graduate of Cleveland High School. After high school Captain Primeaux returned to his home town of Port Arthur, Texas and attended what is now Lamar University. In 1972 Captain Primeaux began his criminal justice career working at the Ramsey Prison Unit, Texas Department of Corrections where he attained the rank of Lieutenant before returning to Cleveland in 1978. Captain Primeaux holds a Master Police Officer Certification and in addition to supervising CID he has been the department’s firearms instructor since 1979. Captain Primeaux has through the year been very active in local youth activities. He coached youth baseball in Cleveland from 1982 until 1998, serving on the board of directors of CYBA most of that time. For many years he served on the board of directors of the CYAA which sponsored youth basketball and soccer. In 1995 along with CPD Animal Control Officer Billy Ross and several others he helped found and organize Cleveland Little Dribblers.
