Elected by the citizens of Cleveland every two years, the mayor provides leadership for the City of Cleveland. In addition, the mayor presides over City Council meetings and works with the council members to develop ordinances and resolutions that protect the interests of Cleveland's citizens.
Former Mayor Otis Cohn had passed away in early March 2020 after a long illness so Mayor Pro-Tem Carolyn McWaters had been handling the mayoral responsibilities. At the April 21, 2020, City Council meeting, council appointed Richard Boyett to fill the remaining time left on Mayor Cohn’s term. Mayor Boyett’s term will last until May 2021 as the mayor’s seat is up for election in 2021.
Mayor Boyett has served three consecutive terms as a Cleveland City council member, plus holding the office of mayor for two terms. We welcome Mayor Boyett to the City and looking forward to working with him. You can reach him through City Hall - 281-592-2667 by leaving a message for him or his new email address will be firstname.lastname@example.org .
