City Manager - Philip Cook
Philip G.
Cook was appointed City Manager for the City of Cleveland in
2001. He began his career as City Planner in Nacogdoches
going on to serve as Director of Community Development and
as City Manager. He has also served as the City Manager in
Crockett, Lockhart, Llano, and Destin, Florida. Philip
earned his Bachelor of Science in Government and a Master of
Public Administration from Lamar University, as well as, a
Master of Urban Planning from Texas A & M University.
Philip and his wife Nancy have three children. Both of
their sons are attending Texas A & M University; the oldest
son is working on his Master of Science in Visualization
Science and the other is a junior in Mechanical Engineering
and a member of the A & M track team. Their daughter is an
honor student at Cleveland High School and a member of the
varsity volleyball, softball and track teams.
Philip has
over 30 years of combined municipal management experience.
He has extensive experience in strategic planning, city
finances, and employee relations. He has an ‘open door’
policy not only for Cleveland residents but also for City
staff. Cook believes that City employees are the number
one asset of City of Cleveland. He also believes that being
involved in the community helps him get to know his
constituents and the needs of the town. Feel free to drop
