Emergency Hospital Systems Vaccine Hub is excited to announce that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has directed states to expand vaccine eligibility to include people who work in school and childcare operations. As stated in the attached federal directive, this includes:
“those who work in pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools, as well as Head Start and Early Head Start programs (including teachers, staff, and bus drivers) and those who work as or for licensed childcare providers, including center-based and family care providers.”
Considering this federal directive, the Texas Emergency Hospital Vaccine Hub will begin scheduling the above mentioned, individuals and will continue to provide the administration of vaccinations to individuals that are eligible under the Phase 1A and 1B guidelines.
• Frontline healthcare workers and residents at long-term care facilities, plus people over 65 or with a chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from Covid-19.
• People 65 years of age and older.
• People 16 years of age and older with a least one chronic medical condition that puts them at increased risk for severe illness from the virus that causes Covid-19, such as but not limited to:
Chronic kidney disease
COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathies
Solid organ transplantation
Obesity and sever obesity (body mass index of 30 kg/m2 or higher)
Sickle cell disease
Type 2 diabetes mellitus
